SDI PDF Metadata Extraction Utility

The utility speeds up workflow by extracting metadata from the source files all at once and provides a report summary into a single Excel file (multi-tab spreadsheet). This frees up staff from the slow task of checking PDF metadata a single file at a time.

How to extract metadata from a collection of PDF files?

Open up the SDI PDF extraction utility
Choose one of the following methods to register the location of the files to be scanned
1. Enter the URL of the target folder (e.g. https://www.sdicgm.com/documents/pdf-files/)
2. Use the 'browse directory' option to navigate to the target folder on your local machine or network drive
After the target folder is entered the utility will scan all PDF files
Metadata will be extracted to a single Excel file into your downloads directory
The resultant Excel file contains multiple worksheets detailed below:
1. Executive summary: report profile name, WCAG level, total files processed, pass count, and fail count
2. Summary: separate rows for each file and columns representing source directory or URL, file name, title, author field, subject, presence of tagged ata, tag list or keyword entries, Fast Web View status (yes or no), language present (yes or no), language value (if present)
3. Individual work sheet for each file scanned: source URL, preconditions, document properties, additional requirements (e.g. title, author, subject, tags, Fast Web View, remediation hint
